Welcome! Here’s Our Story…

Our story began in 2006 when we met while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. After six months of hiking, we became ski instructors in Taos, New Mexico, and eventually worked our way to Alaska.

In Alaska, we lived in Fairbanks, Palmer, and Anchorage where we went to graduate school, became teachers, got married, and had two babies. In 2015, after our daughter was born, we decided to sell our home in Alaska to work and raise our family overseas. Our first international teaching jobs took us to Chennai, India.

While living in India for two years, we were able to immerse ourselves in the culture and cuisine of this incredible country. We lived in Chennai but traveled to Pondicherry, Bangalore, Agra, New Dehli, Jaipur, and Amristar. We also had several opportunities to take our young children on adventures to several Southeast Asian countries: Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the Maldives. We even traveled along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in a “Spaceship” (That’s right! More on that later).

Two years later, we packed up our family and moved to the United Arab Emirates. We taught in Dubai and had many opportunities to travel around the UAE and Oman. On our school breaks, we traveled to Nepal, Vietnam, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and back to Thailand. Our third child was born in Dubai!

We currently live and teach in Indonesia. We have already enjoyed island hopping between Java, Raja Ampat (West Papua), Bali, and Flores. With over 17, 000 islands to choose from, I think we are going to enjoy exploring our new home. We also have an exhaustive bucket list that we keep adding to! We might need to live two lifetimes just to experience it all.

Living overseas has allowed us affordable access to visit countries that once seemed far out of reach on two teacher salaries. Using travel hacking tips, we were able to visit over 13 countries with our kids.

Most asked question: How do you do it with kids? That’s when we decided we needed to start creating content to show and inspire families who have big travel dreams similar to ours. It is possible! If we can do it, you can, too. That’s when we decided to start our YouTube channel, along with Instagram and our blog. We want to show you that it is possible through our videos and stories, and we want to help you get started through our itineraries, gear lists, and helpful tricks.

We can’t wait to meet you!
